Atom

An XML-based syndication format for publishing changes to websites. (Actually, the Atom standard includes both a syndication format and a publishing API.) Designed by an IETF working group based on the experiences (both positive and negative) of RSS.

FeedTree uses Atom 0.3 as the format of feeds exchanged over Scribe multicast; that is, any RSS feed of any flavor is converted to Atom (using the Rome toolkit) internally. The format of feeds generated by the proxy for the local user is also Atom.
